Welcome to the Tasmanian Bicycle Council Website.
The peak body for recreational and transport cycling in Tasmania.

The Tasmanian Bicycle Council with support from Premiers Physical Activity Council is proud to present the State Bike Week calendar for 2009. There are events across the State from Smithton to Bruny Island, many are free and aimed encouraging you to get on you bike and have some fun.

Please do not hesitate to contact the event organiser directly if you would like more information. It is strongly advised that you register for the events you wish to participate in but not essential, most of the State Bike Week events you can simply turn up with your bike and join in.

Tuesday 10th March Bike Maintenance Course - Bike Ride, 74A Liverpool St. 6.15pm - 9pm Cost $35 supper included. Bookings essential.(Online booking and payment not available at present) Phone 6231 6202.

Wednesday 11th March Bicycle Tasmania Rivulet History Tour Ride
Ride into some of Hobart's oldest history, concentrating on the Hobart Rivulet Linear Park. The ride will pass the sites of former corn mills, woollen mills, saw mills, tanneries, breweries, distilleries, the Female Factory, through Cascade Gardens to finish at Cascade Brewery. The ride will be at a leisurely pace with frequent stops at points of interest. History notes provided and for those that wish a counter meal on the way back to town at the Cascade Hotel.

Bicycle Tasmania Century Ride
The biggest State Bike Week event, the challenge of riding 100km in a day. Start this testing ride with the peleton of hundreds of other cyclists riding over the Tasman Bridge. Minimum age 14yrs.

Location Virginstow. From Launceston turn right into Keens Rd 1.5km north of the Parramatta Ck rest area. (Turn Right from the slip lane on the left road shoulder.) Follow the signs to Mountain Bike Orienteering. From Devonport; turn left into Keens Rd about 1km south of Smith and Others Rd. Follow the signs.
